Children's Activities

"Habitat-tat-tat"
King and Queen11:30-12:15 and 1:30-2:15, grassy knoll by the Theatre Preserves van
Performed by the Minnetrista Theatre Preserves

It is King Gerg's last day as king and he wants to do something great for his kingdom, so he sends out three servants to search the world for stories of true greatness. On the day of their return each servant brings a different story of the world's wonders.

The first servant recalls the adventures of Wally the water drop. The second servant acts out the story of a tiny mosquito who wants nothing more than to be a part of the great eagle. Finally, the third servant tells the tale of the mighty and majestic oak tree.

With the help of masks and large-scale puppetry the King and his court make a habit of learning about habitat.

"Water and You" Activities
10-12 and 1-3, meet at the table by the Information Tent

Children will explore water resources through "The Long Haul," "A-Maze-ing Water," and other hands-on, investigative, activities designed by Project WET (Water Education for Teachers).   They'll also get to make their own terraria!

Parents, bring your children to the table by the Information Tent, and activity leaders will move groups to various sites for each activity.

In Indiana, Project WET is administered by the Natural Resources Education Center of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.

In August, Living Lightly sponsored a Project WET workshop for teachers and community educators.  Participants received free classroom-ready resources and Professional Growth Experience points.  For more information about Project WET workshops, contact NREC at 317-562-1338 or nrec@dnr.in.gov.

WET Project participants take part in “The Incredible Journey,” an activity that explores the water cycle.
