Music and Art
Featured Musician: Jennie DeVoe
3:30-4:45, Outdoor Music Tent
"Jennie DeVoe's voice is smoked honey on a sultry summer evening...smooth, sweet and warm, steeped in the kettle of blues/R&B - but with a rare and wonderful flavor all her own. Only a handful of girls will ever get to sound this good." - Krista Detor, singer/songwriter
Jennie DeVoe is one of the Midwest's most highly respected and well-known independent singer/songwriters. She's performed all over the country, including at Lillith Fair, and she's opened for greats like Bonnie Raitt, Joe Cocker, Lucinda Williams, Jack Johnson, Ray Charles, and many more.
Her song "How I Feel" was the 1st-place winner of Billboard Magazine's World Song Contest in 2004. She's received "Best Of" honors from Indianapolis’s NUVO readers for the last 10 years, the past two years as "Best Local Musician." In 2010, The Indianapolis Star named her one of the "Entertainers of the Decade."
Attracting fans of all ages, the Indianapolis-based DeVoe is at her best in front of a listening audience, never failing to mesmerize and captivate with her talent, humor and personality. No matter the venue, DeVoe makes you feel like you're in your living room with old friends – until she knocks you flat with her amazing voice, and you forget where you are entirely.
Enjoy a glass of wine from Wilson’s Winery (Modoc) while you listen to Jennie perform.

Banister Family Bluegrass Band
12:00-1:00, Outdoor Music Tent
In the 1970s, while attending Ball State University, Roger Banister and his sister Denise (Banister) Kocur formed the internationally-acclaimed bluegrass band Buck Stove and Range Co. For fifteen years they performed throughout the Midwest and overseas for the U.S. Department of Defense, travelling as far as Japan, Australia, Egypt, Germany and the Caribbean.
They were later joined by Roger’s wife Jan and Dennis Marcum to form the Columbus-based Banister Family Bluegrass Band. With Roger on mandolin and fiddle, Denise on guitar, Jan on bass guitar, and Dennis playing lightning-fast banjo – and all four on vocals – you’ll find plenty of entertainment during the noon hour.
Ron Beach and Ric Dwenger
10:30-11:15, Outdoor Music Tent
Ron Beach (guitar and vocals), and Ric Dwenger (bass guitar, guitar, banjo and vocals) explore American music beyond the acoustic boundaries of folk and bluegrass. By using the traditional instruments of bluegrass and old-time and intricate vocal harmonies, they've developed a distinctive sound that blends rock, jazz, bluegrass, country, swing, folk, old-time, and gospel. They have been making music together for more than 25 years in their local band, the Great Divide.
Building a River of Fish
All Day, grassy knoll in the parking lot
Create a clay fish to add to our sculpture! Your fish will be placed on a steel rod in the ground to make the “river” grow. The Ball State University Clay Guild members will assist participants with their creations.
In keeping with the spirit of the fair, the clay will be previously used clay. At the end of the day, five fish will be selected to be saved and displayed.
